FONDATION JARDIN MAJORELLE

It is an independant body, established under Moroccan law in 2001 by Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Bergé and Madison Cox.

 

By governmental decree, the Foundation was recognized as being of public benefit in 2011.

 

The Fondation Jardin Majorelle is not involved in any commercial activity and has no profit motive. Its only resources consist of bequests and donations from natural or legal persons.

 

The Foundation supports and encourages activities and cultural or scientific initiatives, respectful of the laws, institutions and traditions of the Kingdom of Morocco.

 

Its primary mission is to ensure the conservation, maintenance and prestige of the Jardin Majorelle, the Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech, while contributing to the conservation of the architecture and landscape heritage of the Kingdom.

vision and MISSIONS

The Foundation also works towards:

  • Organizing scientific and cultural events―such as exhibitions and colloquiums―related primarily to botany, fashion, Berber arts of Morocco;
  • Providing training―through ateliers and apprenticeship programs―in the fields of museum curatorial services, garden related activities;
  • Encouraging artistic creation (music, literature, theatre);
  • Supporting medical and scientific research and local health clinics;
  • Financing scholarships for young Moroccans studying abroad;
  • Providing grants to cultural and educational institutions in Morocco.

GOVERNANCE

Madison Cox, President of the Fondation Jardin Majorelle, pursues the Foundation’s commitment to the above through an ongoing support of initiatives in the fields of culture, garden design, education, training in the fine crafts and fashion, as well as work of a social and general interest.

 

Since its establishment, the Foundation has financially supported hundreds of associations and institutions in these fields.

 

The governance of the Foundation is ensured by a Board of Directors, composed of:
